ASPPA Webcast: 403(b) Document Restatement Issue

The first 403(b) restatement period for pre-approved plans has officially begun. The IRS acknowledged that restating 403(b) plans will be more difficult than restating qualified plans and therefore provided a longer deadline. The webcast will begin with a high-level overview of the substantive differences between 401(k) and 403(b) plans, to help attendees understand the unique issues that may arise when restating 403(b) plans. It will then explore specific issues that practitioners are encountering as they prepare for the restatements.


ASPPA Webcast: Eligible Employees in Light of a Plan’s Excluded Classes

This webcast will provide an overview of the different acceptable statutory and non-discriminatory classification exclusions. Starting with the statutory exclusions, the discussion will progress to non-discriminatory classifications based on job description, geographic location, hourly versus salaried, etc The webcast also will address employee exclusions in a safe harbor 401(k), a QACA, and a 403(b); the impact on eligibility of a MEP or a controlled group; and the change of the status of an employee and a change in a rehire’s classification when rehired. The impact of the plan document’s provisions will be referred to throughout, including IRS QAB 2006-03.
