Defined Benefit Administration Certificate (DB-A)

The DB-A Certificate Program is designed for individuals who provide administrative support to defined benefit plans. The course covers contributions, applicable deadlines, calculations for termination and retirement benefits, and other critically important aspects of these plans.

HOW TO EARN YOUR CERTIFICATE
To earn the certificate, learners must read the DB-A Study Guide and pass the Assessment. The assessment is open-book, unlimited attempts, 75 questions, and has a passing score of 75%.

CONTENT BREAKDOWN
Each individual chapter in the DB-A study guide includes a review of key concepts to help learners assess their knowledge of the material. The study guide is divided into the following chapters by topic:

  • Chapter 1: Introduction to Defined Benefit Plans
  • Chapter 2: Accrued and Normal Retirement Benefits
  • Chapter 3: Present Value Calculations and Alternate Forms of Benefits
  • Chapter 4: Hybrid and Floor Offset Defined Benefit Pension Plans

  • Chapter 7: Benefit Limitations under §IRC 415
  • Chapter 8: Permitted Disparity

  • Chapter 11: Participant and PBGC Notices
  • Chapter 12: Plan Assets
  • Chapter 13: Valuations

CONTINUING EDUCATION (CE) CREDITS
For ASPPA, 7.50 CE credits will be awarded for completion of the package.
For ERPA, 7.00 CE credits will be awarded for completion of the package.
