2018 ACOPA Actuarial Symposium

The ACOPA Actuarial Symposium is coming up!

It is an honor to serve on the symposium conference committee with such dedicated volunteers, who want to bring the best educational experience to all who attend the symposium. If comments from attendees at prior conferences are any guide, the reasons one would attend the Aug. 10-11 Symposium in Chicago are:

• Continuing education/topics presented
• Networking opportunities
• Location 

Chicago is easy to get to, and a great choice in August — warm, but not too hot — but let’s be honest: We are really there for the continuing education. We have reviewed the suggestions on the topics you would like to see. So this year we have scheduled discussion of:

• Regulatory updates
• Ethics (get your required two hours)
• Testing
• Benefit calculations
• Ask the experts
• And more…

The symposium format provides plenty of opportunities to participate. In an effort to improve participation, this year we have a link through which one may submit questions for the “Ask the Experts” session. We will also have more microphones in the audience to make it easier to speak up.

Another change this year is that more time has been scheduled during the breaks than in previous symposia to allow for more networking opportunities. This is a wonderful chance to build relationships that will give more back to you than just the continuing education opportunity.

And you can earn up to 16 hours JBEA, ASPPA, ERPA CE (including two hours of ethics).
